Rite - 13
Middle School youth meet during the Sunday School hour in a 2 year
program developed to build self-esteem, gain tools for decision
making, and build faith and trust in the context of the Christian
community and common prayer as these youth transition from child
to adult. This program includes a celebration of Manhood and
Womanhood, called the Rite-13 Ceremony, loosely modeled on the
Jewish bar mitzvah.
Journey to Adulthood (J2A)
Youth ages thirteen through 16 meet during the Sunday School
hour in a continuation of the Rite 13 program. Their curriculum,
which is divided into four semesters of study (Self, Society, Sexuality
and Spirituality), teaches life skills in preparation for adulthood and
prepares these young people for confirmation. This two-year
program culminates in a pilgrimage abroad.
