Background
This outreach program, began in
1998, is dedicated to helping the
people and children of Mirebalais,
Haiti - a mountain town
approximately 50 miles from
Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
St. David's, along with the other
HOM members (Catholic, Episcopal,
and Baptist churches), provides
health care, education support, and
other services with our partner
churches in Mirebalais - St. Louis
Catholic and St. Pierre Episcopal.
Our mission team consists of
doctors, dentists, nurses, and lay
people from HOM member churches
as well as doctors and medical
students from Port-au-Prince. We
visit Mirebalais once each year.
Donations to support this mission
work are always welcomed.

Thanks to the support from the St David's
congregation; Holy Cross, Novi; All Saints
Episcopal, East Lansing; Church of the
Advent, West Bloomfield; and St.
Stephens, Troy; the First Annual Haiti
Fundraiser Dinner was a huge success!
The Haiti Outreach Team sold dinner
tickets, solicited contributions, held a Silent
Auction and sold raffle tickets on 13
beautiful gift baskets!
A delicious Caribbean-themed dinner was
prepared and served by St. David's
members Barb Veselenak, Kathy Graham,
and St. David's/Corpus Christi member
Dominique Matthews, and local Haitian
community members from Corpus Christi
Parish: Adeline Auguste, Catherine
Auguste, and Danielle Desroches. Providing
additional assistance were Sarah Veselenak
and her friend Lauren Cerino.
The Brass Knuckle Band (under the
leadership of Tim Mullins, son of Dorcas
and Joe Mullins), provided lively music that
had everyone “moving and grooving”! Mike
White was seen “dancing out the door”
(with walker of course).
The proceeds of the dinner will help
support the projects of the Haiti Outreach
Mission (HOM). These projects are
requested by the priests of St Pierre
Episcopal Church and St Louis Catholic
Church in Mirebalais, Haiti, thru the HOM
Executive Board.
The very rewarding part is that we actually
see the money being put to good use for
the betterment of the lives of the people of
Mirebalais.
This year’s mission trip to Haiti is scheduled
from May 9 –May 16. Please check next
month’s newsletter, upcoming Sunday
bulletins, and this web site for more
information on how you can help those who
are traveling to Haiti to deliver medical
supplies and aid.
