Daughters of the King
Sisters of Bethany Chapter
The Daughters of the King is an Order devoted to prayer, service, and
evangelism.
Our business meeting is held the second Tuesday of each month. Our Book
Study meeting is on the fourth Tuesday of the month. Both meetings are at
St. David's @ 6:30pm.
The Daughters are currently praying for those who submit prayer requests,
and "Healing Prayers" are offered on Sundays following communion at the 9:
30am service. Prayers may be requested for personal need or for a need in
our world.
We are starting our study of "The Kings Daugher: Becoming the Woman
God Created You to Be" by Dianne Hagee.
We continue to identify service projects where we can be of help. For
example, in 2007, (a) we made pillows for servicemen in Iraq [the pillows had
a pocket in which a laminated card with scriptures and prayers was placed],
(b) we contributed baby clothes and toys to Katrina Hurricane victims, and
(c) we participated in the shoe box ministry for Franklin Graham’s “Samaritan’
s Purse” project.
In 2008, (a) we continue to prepare food bags that are kept in the office for
those in need. Each food bag contains about four days of nonperishable
goods, and (b) we are knitting or crocheting prayer shawls for those who are
sick or shut in. Father Chris will bless the finished shawls before they are
given to those in need.
On May 10, the Daughters held their Spring Assembly at Christ Church
Grosse Pointe hosted by St. Monica's Chapter. We enjoyed the Eucharist
officiated by the Reverend Bradford Whitaker. Fr. Brad is a long-time
supporter of the Daughters of the King’s work in the church. We also
enjoyed a “sing-a-long” of various hymns. We had a discourse on “spiritual
healing and wellness”. And, of course, we had good food.
Anyone woman interested in learning more about the Daughters of the King
is invited to join us during the Book Study meeting on the fourth Tuesday of
the month or just speak to any one of the Daughters at St. David’s, or call
the Church Office (248-557-5430).
